Patchwork on furniture by F G Davis.

Patchwork on furniture by F G Davis.

You can see this retro 1930’s collaged dressing table when you come to visit my home in the DEVON OPEN STUDIOS fortnight. Though it’s patchwork tag is less than inspiring, It is in reality a triumph of craft and art combined, for sale to you (at ridiculously affordable Devon prices). Fabrics were used for this piece from African designs printed in Holland, bought in Barcelona and London, Spanish fabrics, bought this summer from San Sebastian and Original William Morris screen printed fabrics from Liberty of Regent Street London. As with all my work this eclectic furniture piece needs some time to take in, not all masterpieces can be appreciated in an instant.A new and brave venture for me, but one which is very much in keeping with the tradition of art and design in the UK and beyond.,Using a combination of cultural identities to create a piece of usable art which pays homage to the great artists and designers which have fashioned the way we see and experience art and design. This is a piece of real individuality to grace any fashionable boudoirs and interiors. Visit me during Devon Open Studios and get the lowdown on what is happening in the world of F G Davis the artist.
