Having last posted a mixed media piece from 2020, I thought it interesting to compare this to a painting from ten years ago. My use of layers of impasto paint over collaged elements hasn’t changed much at all, and the common thread of a concept or story is yet another constant in the majority of my pieces. This label is from the Guggenheim Museum. A visit to Venice and her wonderful Museum is one not easily forgotten, as is the majesty of the city itself. The blues of the canals, dark mysterious passageways and the faded peeling paint of the ancient walls all play a part in the composition. Let’s hope that soon we will all be free to travel again to experience the rich heritage of the worlds many magical cities.
